Justice should never depend on your race, your ZIP code, your bank account, whom you love, where you were born, how you worship—or whether you worship at all.

Yet too often in America, opportunity, protection, political power, and even justice itself are distributed very differently depending upon who you are.

Light of Day News exists to expose those disparities—and challenge the systems that perpetuate them.

We will examine racial and economic inequality, voting rights, healthcare access, LGBTQ+ equality, immigrant rights, workers' rights, education, environmental justice, reproductive freedom, discrimination, poverty, and the many ways government policies and powerful institutions affect people who have the least power to influence them.

But documenting injustice isn't enough.

We believe information should lead to action.

When appropriate, we'll help readers understand what can be changed, who has the authority to change it, and how ordinary people can make themselves heard.

We'll amplify voices too often ignored.

We'll challenge those with power to answer for the consequences of their decisions.

And we'll measure public policy not merely by what politicians promise, but by what happens to actual human beings when those policies become reality.

Justice isn't a partisan value.

It's an American promise that remains unfinished.

And where that promise is being denied, diminished, or deliberately withheld, we intend to say so—clearly, persistently, and without apology.
